Sorry it has taken me so long to write this post... Not really sure what to say about this one. I wasn't really intentionally planning on writing a poem for this month, but it just came out one day as I was sitting by the canal, so I thought I should share it. It is my first poem I have ever written, crazy huh?
It was a gorgeous sunny afternoon, the kind of day that makes my heart SO happy. I found a spot on the edge of the canal and sat for a while just observing everything going on around me, and this is what it inspired...
Sunlight--
flitting, dancing, skipping
across the surface
of the water.
Sparkling, shimmering,
beckoning me to dip my feet in.
Breeze--
effortless, subtle, awakening
the leaves on the branches,
brushing my hair across my cheek and
causing the seagulls to soar
like planes.
Bicycles fly by behind me
and boats glide past in front,
but I am still,
feeling everything in motion,
resisting the urge to join in,
trying to find the calm
in the midst
of constant chaos.
Yep, that's it! It felt so inspiring to be free to write my thoughts down in any way that made sense in the moment. This is only the first of many, hopefully...
