#14. Read the Chronicles of Narnia

Ok... I know this post is extremely late. I mean... it is from July. Sorry about that. I don't even have a good excuse... unless being lazy with a touch of forgetfulness counts.

Moving on... If you have not read all of the Chronicles of Narnia... I highly recommend that you do. Also, if you have not read the books in the order they were published (as opposed to the chronological order of their content/store line) within a close time span... I recommend that you reread them this way. Why is the order important... you may be wondering. Well... because I said so. No... really because I did a little research about the order of the books before I began reading. And from my research I concluded that this order (publication order) would allow for the introduction to both characters and story lines that C.S. Lewis originally intended. Just trust me... you will thank me later.

Here are the books in the order they were published:
  1. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - This is the one everyone thinks of with Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy finding Narnia through a wardrobe in a professor's country home. In this book the children first meet Aslan (Lion) and fight the White Witch.

  2. Prince Caspian: The Return to Narnia - The 4 children return to Narnia hundreds of years after they were first there. At this time the land is in trouble and they meet Prince Caspian.

  3. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - This is my favorite. Lucy and Edmund find themselves back in Narnia with their cousin, Eustace. The three go on a sea adventure with Prince Caspian and his crew.

  4. The Silver Chair - This book involves Eustace and his schoolmate Jill. The two of them are having trouble at school and suddenly find themselves in Narnia... where they have an adventure rescuing a prince.

  5. The Horse and His Boy - This book is a story that takes place in Narnia while P, S, E and L are growing up in Narnia (years missing in the first book). It involves new characters and their journey to find freedom in Narnia.

  6. The Magician's Nephew - This book covers the creation of Narnia. The reader also meets the professor from the first book when he is a little boy... and finds out how the White Witch made her way into Narnia.

  7. The Last Battle - Eustace and Jill return to save Narnia from another manipulative leader. This is the last book and has a good ending. I don't want to say too much!
