#95: take a karate/martial arts class....

i've been delaying writing this post because, well, i have something to tell you all. i did not accomplish the task that you picked for me this month. i know, i know. i can't believe it either. but i tried. i really tried. well, let me just tell you the story...

i had been looking into places all month, and had found a few that looked promising. the only trouble was that you had to sign up for multiple week courses right from the start which, being new to martial arts, wasn't a commitment that i necessarily wanted to make. so i kept looking. finally i found a place that does tae kwon do, and lets beginners try a class or two for free. perfect. exactly the type of relationship i was looking for. try it out a time or two, and if it's not working, just walk away with no harm done. so i e-mailed and asked which class would be the best for beginners. well, i never heard back.

now you probably just think i gave up there, but no, i am dedicated to all of you and was on a mission. so this past saturday claire and i decided to just stop by and maybe try out the teens/adult tae kwon do class. we walked in, and the kids class before was still going on. so we just sat there and watched. no one greeted us or asked us what we were doing there, so it was a bit awkward to say the least. a few minutes later, the adults started showing up, most of which had black belts. intimidating? yes. this was the moment that i lost hope. it was definitely not a beginner class, and so we ended up leaving with only a packet of information in hand.

i'm still going to look for a place, and will let you know how it goes as soon as i find one. maybe i'll go back to that place for the beginner's class. they say you can pay $55, try a couple of classes, and get a free uniform! i think that sounds perfect. but we'll see what happens.

*oh, but on a good note, i did shoot a gun this month so i didn't totally fail, right?
