#25: Eat at Canlis

Last night my boyfriend, Tristan, and I ate dinner at Canlis.

We had a 3 course meal. Amazing.

I had:
gazpacho--came with every meal as a starter
chilled cauliflower soup with dungeness crab and cucumber
halibut with potatoes and garlic sauce
and
rhubarb strawberry and Devonshire cream puff

Tristan had:
gazpacho
Canlis salad--greens with Gorgonzola, bacon and a lemon/mint dressing
linguine with savory duck and plums
and
vanilla bean creme brulee with passion fruit sorbet

We both had cocktails and wine for dinner and dessert. It was two and a half hours of just sitting, talking and having a good time at a restaurant that we would never usually go out to. We had previously heard that the restaurant keeps tabs on its guests and they have your car ready and waiting for you before you even get to the door. This is true. But here's the thing: when you get out of the car, they don't ask your name or give you a ticket. But, when you leave, your car is there. Crazy, huh?

Also crazy is the view. OH, THE VIEW. We sat staring at Lake Washington. The WHOLE night. We both sat on the same side of the table overlooking Lake Washington. I can't get over how beautiful it was. What a great experience. If they do the Dine Around Seattle next year and Canlis is on the list--go. Don't even hesitate, just do it.
