#1 Go Skydiving

Today I went skydiving.

After a 10 minute video, 20 minute informational time and 1 hour wait, it was finally my time to board the plane that was going to take me up to 13,500 feet so I could jump out of it. My instructor's name was Vlad. He was a funny guy. He introduced himself to me as the person who was going to be my "best friend for the next 45 minutes." My friend, Carlie, went with me. she had an instructor named Spotty. We heard that it was his name, not his record.

I had a 1 minute free fall and 5 minute fall time. It was great. I was the last person out of the plane, and the anticipation was killing me. When it got to my time to jump out of the plane I was pretty sure I was going to throw up. As I was getting ready per the instructions on the video, Vlad said, "let's go, Jyl!" and next thing I knew I was free falling at 13,500 feet above the ground. It was an amazing feeling--looking around, being outside of an airplane, looking at a sight that I had only seen from an airplane--it was amazing. When the parachute opened up, I felt free and excited that I was actually skydiving. The instructor adjusted my straps which kind of freaked me out because I fell a little bit when he loosened my back strap, but then he gave me control of the parachute and taught me how to spin. Man, it was an amazing experience. I'll post pictures and a video or two below once I upload them.

I highly suggest doing this. You can do it. Just jump, but don't close your eyes; you'll miss everything.
