I am not a patient person. I thought that sewing looked easier than it is, and it definately requires a lot of patience.
I am still in the process of makng a shirt, but since my thing is to learn how to sew, I feel like I've learned how to sew, I just don't know if it's something that my lack of patience will allow me to continue to do.
Jennie helped me pick out a pattern and fabric. She told me that we would have to do a muslin mock-up first, which I wasn't happy about, because the way I work is like this: step 1. show me how to do something step 2. I do it to see if it's right step 3. leave me alone and I'll be just fine. I'll find you if I have questions. None of this do a mock-up THEN do the actual thing...
In no way am I an expert on sewing now. I sewed a bunch of the body fabric into the collar of the shirt, and I had to undo all I had just done and resew it. I do have to say that I have a huge respect now for people that sew. And, my mom, who made a lot of my clothes when I was growing up. Sewing is a lot of hard work!
Mykell took some pictures that we'll post soon.
