Follower of the Week: Megan Liepman

That's right, folks, Megan Liepman is the follower of the week this week. Megan went to SPU for a couple of years. This is where she met Jyl, Jennie and Mykell. Megan recently turned 25 years old, and decided to make a list of 25 things to do the year she was 25. We asked her about her list and this is what she had to say about it:

Q: How did you come up with the things on your list?
A: I made my list with the intention of giving myself stuff to look forward to and/or that would enrich my life during my 25th year so I decided to fill it with items that that have been things that I've always thought about doing at some point or another but have filed away under the "I'll do it someday" category; I figured why not make my 'someday' list exist in this year of my life?

Q: What are you most excited about achieving?
A: To be honest, I don't know if there's one thing that I'm more excited to achieve more so than the others (they're all rather varied and the meaning intertwined with their completion would vary as well), but I do have to say that I'm looking forward to the prospect of visiting two states that I haven't been to yet, experiencing the little nuisances that may exist there and only there, and I'm also really excited about pursuing my childhood dream of having something published. Also, after taking two different languages in college, in addition to various other attempts to teach myself, and still not being able to carry on much of anything resembling a conversation in another language, I'm rather looking forward to finally being able to speak in a foreign tongue.

Q: What have you already started to do to cross things off the list?
A: The completion of my list is still very much in its infancy, but I've started whittling away at the items that are meant to be carried on throughout the year. I'm just about done reading my first classic book, have two memorized Bible verses under my belt, cooked up a storm in the kitchen with a new recipe, am working through season two of The Office, and even just got some Spanish lesson books. Ole! I've also spent some time looking into what it'll take to do some of the bigger scale items that would be taken care of with one fell swoop; I'm hoping to start crossing some of those off in the near future.

Q: Anything you've discovered about having crossed a few things off the list?
A: While progressing on my list, even though they're not quite what would be considered 'grand' things, I've strangely felt like it's added even more meaning to my life right now. I'm not sure if finishing a season of The Office really equates to meaning, but I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that I'm accomplishing things that I've wanted to do, that I'm making them happen, and that I'm sticking with them.

Q: Anything you want to share with our readers about your list or how to get started making a list?
A: If anyone feels inclined to make a list of their own, I would encourage them to do so. Compiling a list of things you want to do, whether big or small, sooner or later, can not only be a great incentive to start taking action on things you otherwise may never get around to doing and/or never get the guts to do, but it can also be a great thing to refer to when you need some perspective in your life, when you need to pull yourself out of just going from day to day. Why not give it a whirl?
