#36/65: go on the NY NY rollercoaster in vegas.

(jennie):: this past weekend claire and i went to vegas (as i'm sure you could see from the last couple of posts from us). our one and only goal: to go on the NY NY rollercoaster. we had a master plan of making the best video ever by sneaking my camera on the ride and holding it in my lap to get full view of the twists, turns, facial expressions, screams, etc.

(claire):: so... saturday morning (after eating some delicious crepes I might add) we headed over to the NY NY casino and up to the rollercoaster.

there were only a few people in line so we pretty much walked right on. once seated, secured and moving toward the incline... jennie was able to maneuver the camera out of her pocket (which was a little tricky given the way we were strapped in), around her wrist and press "play".

(jennie):: i was so excited that i was actually going to get the best video ever. the entire ride through the upside downs, huge drops, and swirlys, i held tight to my camera, making sure to focus on where it was aimed to be sure i got a glimpse of everything around us. how awesome it was going to be to have a video of the entire strip spinning around and around.

(claire):: as we pulled up to the exit my head was spinning. the ride was amazing... yet it made me realize just how long it had been since I was on a real rollercoaster... meaning... I wasn't ready to turn around and go for another ride. anyway, we get out of our car and practically run out of the arcade (yes... the rollercoaster is in the arcade area of the casino). why you might ask? well... because we wanted to watch our video away from the "scene of the crime".

(jennie):: so we got into the hallway, and i turned on my camera, and pushed the play button to view the video, and all that was there was the worst picture that i have ever seen. yes that's right, picture. not video. somehow the camera was on the wrong setting. i totally blew it. i was so mad i can't even explain it. not only did i not have the best video ever, but i was left with the absolute worst picture i think i have ever taken...

totally and utterly tragic. claire can agree that it took me quite awhile to recover from that one. what an idiot. we debated the rest of the trip whether we should go again, but decided the money wasn't worth it. maybe next time we'll try again...we'll see. all i know is that the next time i am going to be absolutely sure that the video is recording before i get too excited. oh well, at least we have one more to cross of the list...
