YAY! One item is now officially crossed off my list! :)
I was originally going to try to learn how to crack an egg with one hand last Sunday, but Superbowl plans got in my way, so I'll have to save that for another day... (Congrats Saints, gotta love an underdog win!)
However, on Saturday evening, Jennie, Claire and I went to Be Luminous, a yoga studio downtown, and I made it through my first yoga class ever! WOOO HOOO! (#76 on my list)
My impressions of the experience... Let's see...
First of all, it was WAY harder than I thought it was going to be! Oh my goodness. I haven't ever sweated that much in my entire life (and I grew up playing every sport imaginable). I was absolutely dripping by the time the hour and a half class was over... And, during the session, my arms, legs, and core were shaking so badly! The day after, there were muscles that were aching that I didn't even know existed... and I was hobbling around complaining to everyone how incredibly sore I was (sorry Jennie and Jyl, haha).
Secondly, it wasn't the most peaceful experience I've ever had. I went into the class thinking that it would be a great way for me to relax and unwind in the midst of grad school craziness... However, I was pretty confused and lost most of the time and I was constantly worried that I wasn't doing the poses right or that I looked absolutely ridiculous. I tried my best to "center" myself and be in the moment but I think, due to the fact that it was my first class, I had too much on my mind! I am sure that the more classes I take, the more automatic the movements become (like driving or riding a bike... right?)
And, finally, I also now admire people who are extremely good at yoga. There were people in our class, including our instructor, who were doing some crazy stuff (like folding into a pretzel and doing headstands) and they have to be so incredibly strong and focused... wow! Maybe someday I'll get there :)
But, for now... Definitely a great, eye-opening experience and I am so glad that I did it! I can't wait to buy cute yoga gear now and work on improving my "eagle" pose.... :)
Here's the proof:

Cute!! Yeah Yoga is harder than expected!! I have taken a "hot yoga" class before and I was sweating so much I couldn't do anything cause I was sliding around, hahahaha Good luck my friend. Maybe we can all do a yoga class when I'm there in March!!!!! :)

Yay Mykell!! Hot yoga is tough but remember, every body is different, so do the postures to the best of your ability and concentrate on breathing! You can do it! I hope you continue with the yoga... I have been taking classes for three months now and think it's just an amazing way to unwind and connect with yourself.
